8 Reasons Sustainability Will Change Management (That You Never Thought of) Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

MIT Sloan Management Review's primary annual Business of Sustainability survey exposed much about what executives are viewing and doing about sustainability-driven concerns -as well as what is impeding their attempts both to catch opportunities and protect against dangers. The most broadly credited leading thinkers at the management and sustainability intersection, though, wanted to investigate something else: the ways that many essential management and strategy practices will be transformed by the pressures that sustainability issues are already bringing to bear. This article identifies eight essential ways that practices and current management expectations will be changed by growing economic and societal understanding about sustainability.

Among them: how labour productivity can be dramatically raised by sustainably designed workplaces; how firms "bump into" sustainability-related choices, even when they do not look for them; how a firm's sustainability profile will become a proxy for the organization's overall management quality; how initiation results are enhanced by pursuance of sustainability-related consequences; how sustainability efforts within an organization lead to more productive cooperation across typical organizational silos; and how transparency and trustworthiness will become increasingly consequential to competitive success.
