The Real Green IT Machine Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Large bank is trying to justify the cost of the proposed, large (60,000 square feet) of data center based on the energy savings achieved by the "green" technologies, primarily through water cooling and energy recovery. Investment of about $ 100 million, offset somewhat repaid with funds from the closing of the old center. The new building is scheduled to open on 700 racks of server computers. Power consumed in each rack is worth more than the amortized cost of the computers. The Bank expects that 12% yield of discounted cash flows.
