As the company always faces issues and tension related to the project’s autonomy and control; this project must be managed by taking a diplomatic approach. PRINCE2 Principles manifest in the Jaguar project

PRICE2’s principles can be used for a very simple reason, as this paradigm is built on principles, which may be applied in a variety of size or level of the projects. In this approach, the ideas can be used to a minor in-house firm project as well as a larger enterprise,making it is a best tool to measure the project in seven dimensions.

There are seven principles of PRICE2, such as:

  1. Continued business justification.
  2. Learn from experience.
  3. Defined role and responsibilities.
  4. Manage by the stages.
  5. Manage by an exception.
  6. Focus on the product.
  7. Tailored to suit the project management.

The first principle of PRINCE2 is manifested in Jaguar projects, as there is a clear investment return and usage of resources, and the time is also justified. As the time is defined for each phase and finalization of the project, but it doesn’t meet the principal objective (Andrew Slate,, 2019). They have a proper timeline for the development of Jaguar project as given in Exhibit 7 of the case. The timeline shows that the project will start on 1stMay, the phage II project review will be on May 2nd, phase II sub project review must be completed on September 2nd, and finally the last revised phase on June 5th. (ILX Marketing Team, 2016).

The third principle of defined roles and responsibility is also applied in this project. The project is organized into teams and each team is assigned a particular task and responsibility. Management by exception is not included in this project, because the managers have to oversee every step or phase, they are not just informed about the problem, but are also informed about the progress and status of the project. The PRINCE2 principle of “manage by task” is also applied in this project because they broke down the project into phases. They have learned from the past, because in the past; they faced several delays due to the complications of an application-specific integrated system, so now in this project; the most focused area is the development of application-specific integrated system, using which they canmitigate such delays as there was a six-month’s delay was in the previous project. To avoid such delay in future; they invested highly in the development of this system.

These principles are demonstrated to be the most effective tool of managing the project in practise over several years, i.e. they are based on the modern project management’s best practises.

The management will benefit from the principles, since they will get more assurance and capacity to design and execute the respective projects.

This project focuses on the seven PRINCE2 principles, but it has not applied all of these,for example: the meeting dealines which is the part of a continued business justification; they just have defined it and have ignored its proper implementation, so Teradyne Corporation needs to focus on all the seven dimensions and themes of PRINCE2.

Conclusion:

From the above analysis; we can conclude that there are much more strengths in the Jaguar project management approach as compared to the traditional project management approach of Teradyne. So things are improving. For the decision about the tension created in the project’s autonomy or control;Teradyne must choose amiddle approach to manage Jagaur project and to avoid any delay in the project’s finalization. Finally,Teradyne has applied most of principles out of seven PRINCE2 principles, but there is a need to apply all the principles and improving the implemention process.......................
