This was a major deviation from the industry average since it was unusual for a hospital to concurrently execute electronic medical records, computerized physician order entry, and enterprise resource planning.
They may be typically done so independently, if they are executed at all. In addition, hospitals that rise to the challenge of adopting information technology face a high failure rate, largely because of staff-related motives, particularly when medical staff resists its use. This study documents how the hospital achieved this ambitious goal. In doing so, it illustrates how organizations can handle large scale change procedures.
