San Francisco, 2015 #tech #inequality Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

A group of angry protesters blocked one of the commuter bus supplied by the large Silicon Valley firms, in December 2013, (known as "Google buses") which was discontinued in San Francisco on its way to the organization’s headquarters 40 miles south.

The protests were a physical manifestation of the sudden elevation in tensions between citizens upset with changes they saw in San Francisco and the "techies" and technology businesses they held responsible for the disappearing middle class, increased homelessness, weak public education, along with a sense of disconnection from the unique culture and values of the city's past.

This case investigates a number of the noticeable economic inequality issues facing San Francisco, and how much responsibility for creating or exacerbating the problems rests with the nature of capitalism, technology firms, their workers, and also the government, among others. Additionally, it allows for discussion of what technology businesses and the "techies" might do to help appease the problem.
