In 2003, the industrial manufacturer Eaton, NGOs for the protection of the environment, as well as delivery giant Federal Express have formed a partnership to develop a hybrid electric truck. Although environmental protection was the experience of creating a successful partnership with corporations, it was the first time that a product with a significant high-tech components to be launched in the commercial market. Eaton served its purpose of providing a working prototype on time and FedEx began a small pilot program with hybrid trucks in 2004.
