New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association holds its social initiatives of the company in 1994 to create jobs and training for ex-mental patients in Hong Kong. As of mid-2008, 18 social enterprises have been launched, including the supply of organic products from the farm, two restaurants and five retail stores. Despite the success of their social mission, social enterprises are only partially self-supporting. Management is also faced with the problem of increasing business complexity, highly competitive market, and tighter government regulation of food safety.
