Safety Action Plan:

Safety action plan is one of the most prominent tool to structure the measures of safety. Appendix-A defines safety action plan for MEAU Pvt. Ltd. which is divided into three priority levels given the intensity of safety hazards. The first priority of MEAU Pvt. Ltd. includes fire safety, blighted material and equipment handling and emergency situations. Second part of safety action plan identifies safety issues related to severe weather and laboratory. While last priority of safety action plan is adherence to general security and health safety issues. The needed actions related to each issue, personnel responsible for each action plan as well as completion date have been indicated in the table of safety action plan.

Risk Management Strategy:

Strategic management of the risk in consideration to the health and safety concern of the employees might use strategic tools for the evaluation i.e. PEST and SWOT analysis for the performance evaluation of the approaches used by the organization. Thus, under the Work, health and safety act in NWS, the management of risk is based on the following aspects.

Management of hazards and associated risks:

With respect to the Act of WHS, a person responsible for conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU)is to ensure the worker’s health and safety in association with PCBU while other workers are at the work in the business or undertaking near to reasonably practicable. As the PCBU requires management of risks by:

  • Eliminating risks to health and safety so far as is reasonably practicable
  • If elimination is not reasonably practicable, minimising the risks so far as is reasonably practicable.(Legislation, 2019)

In the case of incidents/accidents, according to the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, the health and safety management if finds the worker with serious injury or illness requires the person to have:

  1. Immediate treatment as an in-patient in a hospital, or
  2. Immediate treatment for:
  3. The amputation of any part of his or her body, or
  4. A serious head injury, or
  5. A serious eye injury, or
  6. A serious burn, or
  7. The separation of his or her skin from an underlying tissue (such as degloving or scalping), or
  8. A spinal injury, or
  9. The loss of a bodily function, or
  10. Serious lacerations, or
  11. Medical treatment within 48 hours of exposure to a substance,

And includes any other injury or illness prescribed by the regulations but does not include an illness or injury of a prescribed kind.

Conclusion:

Each organization faces issues regarding health and safety concerns of their employees, visitors and other higher management members. Thus, in context to issues related to their health, the development of safety management plan is considered important with effective and responsible duties of each member or individuals in taking care of their safety. With the fact, under the act of WHS, those individuals who show carelessness regarding their health safety are expected to be forced to pay a fixed amount of penalty. Thus, the above mentioned plan can be considered for health and safety concern of any organization.
