Dallas was established after Iowa and became a state in 1846. During the tenure of James K. Polk acting as the president, Iowa became a state and the county is named after the vice president of United States George M. Dallas. Affected by these growing numbers, Dallas County also experienced a growth in its population numbers, the population in Dallas County grew by 108.2% in population as the population numbers in 1990 were 29,775 and in 2009 they were estimated to be 61,950.
