In Part I, students are not given a list of business events for the record, but rather, they have to figure out what they were from the 2011 balance sheet, the balance of 2012, and in 2012 the income statement. Part II requires students to prepare in the 2012 statement of cash flows using the same three financial statements, as defined in Part I. In Part III, the students have to rely on the balance of 2011 and 2011 statements of cash back to work to get to the 2010 year-end balance. There are two versions of the case: the case of Option 2 is a bit more complicated than the case of option 1. Instructors must use option 2, if they feel justified students in their understanding of the statement of financial relations and the usual set of financial statements of a typical business events.
