Hermitages Russian Quandary (A) Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

In June 2007 the Russian offices of hedge fund Hermitage Capital searched the Moscow police, and in the following months, Hermitage founder Bill Browder was banned from Russia and fending off efforts to expropriate Russian Fund. This case describes the challenges faced by the Hermitage in response to these threats, and the more widely discussed risks of doing business in a business environment with weak legal and political institutions
