Fresh To Table Case Solution

The main cause of these issues was the conversation and comments on social media about the company and the accuser’s coworkers. Because these comments indicated that the management was discriminating based on gender and were also involved in making personal relationships. Along with that, the comments also pointed out that the management preferred employees based on their appearance. The slacker’s comments showed the judgmental behavior of coworkers and how people perceive coworkers based on their appearance. These comments created doubts among the employees and these factors were affecting the employees’ performance in the company. A study also explored the relationship between the workplace environment and employees’ performance and concluded that the workplace environment positively influences the employees’performance. As a positive workplace environment will lead towards better performance being exhibited by the employees. (GUNASEELAN, 2012).

Now the question arises that why the situation got so worse and what triggered Saltwater's behavior.  Showalter behavior was rude and she was not focusing on work, so there were so many complaints being lodged against Showalter, as she did not like new employees, but meanwhile, the company hired new employees which triggered Saltwater's behavior and she also came to know about job’s advertisement which Mossberger posted for Showwalter’s position before she was fired.

Mossberger should wait before posting a job on craigslist, because this allowed Showalterto create a mess in the company and she knew that employees would focus on the comments because it will develop a negative perception among the employees and they won’t be able to perform well in the organization. The job advertisement left an immediate impact on Showalter and she began to feel insecure. The situation could have been different if the CEO had waited. Jensen fired Showalter after her tweets and that was a justifiable act, because the tweets were unethical. Showalter was trying to damage the company’s image and spoil the workplace environment. There was a need for conflict diagnosis and the first step was to find out the people who were involved in creating this issue and what was their major goals behind doing so.

If we sum up the personalities and their impact on the decision-making of Jensen,Mossberger and fisher, then even if they had different personalities; their goal was to achievea positive workplace environment and maintain employee performance. Jensen fired Showalter because she was taking part in unethical acts. Whereas, Mossberger also posted a job before her termination so the conflict was within the process and steps they took as a higher manager, but their motives were thesame.

Alternatives

Now we will focus on possible points that can be considered to solve and repair the damage done by the Showalter and the other three employees. And the points are listed below:

The first step which the management should take is tofire those employees who were involved in unethical behavior and it should also evaluate the employees based on their work performance and negligence towards their work.

  • This termination will send a silent message to the other employees of not crossing the ethical boundaries which are set by the company.
  • Termination will remove the undesirable behaviors fromthe employees and they will try to do their job sincerely.
  • The company should find a better replacement for ex-employees, who would bring a positive attitude to the company.
  • This will help the company to have a better hold on its procedures and operations and to make other employees comfortable in the work environment.

The second option which the company has, is to revise the values and rules in the company. The company should create a discipline among employees because its leaders can make goals to motivate the employees toperform on their job efficiently. George, McLean, & Craig, 2008). Along with that, a study stated that an authentic leadership candirect the employees on a clear path and will motivate them to achieve their goals. (Gardner et al., 2005)

  • The rules and regulations will protect the company from any future dilemma and will help the company to maintain a thin line for employees to not cross their limits.
  • This will help the employees to understand what they are supposed to do and what the company expects from them.
  • Maintaining discipline will help the company to make sure that everything is going at its pace and will be done smoothly.
  • The discipline will ensure positive employee behavior and will increase the employees’ performance.

Lastly, the company should revise its corporate values, which will ensure goal achievement for the company

  • This option will allow the company to track the employees’ records.
  • This option will allow the company to make coordinated goals and increase its employees’ involvement in the procedures.
  • Corporate values will help the company to develop a positive working environment for all of its employees
  • A business needs to have corporate values otherwise the employees will develop their own culture, which would hurt the company.
  • Their values would allow them to focus on employees more than the customers.

Conclusion

The case particularly defines the idea of conflict management, conflict diagnosis, and personality conflicts, so the main issues that have occurred in the company were internal. The employees were taking the management for granted and were involved in spreading negativity in the company and were also making negative comments on the company through internal communication usage. The manager’s personalities were different and these personality differences led them to respond differently to the situation. The main issue was regarding what the managers must do to repair the damage. So it was suggested that first the management should fire those employees who were involved in these unethical acts and then to create strict rules and regulations against the individuals involved in backbiting and making negative comments. Along with that, the managers should also revise their corporate culture and develop values for the employees to follow, because values will help the company to manage a single culture and all employees will move in that single direction...........................
