China and Its Neighbours Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

The emergence of China was one of the most important features of the world economy in the last quarter of the 20th century. At the dawn of the new millennium, most observers believe that its future development will be one of the most important features of the 21st century. This view was reinforced by the successful completion of bilateral negotiations with the United States (November 1999) and the European Union (May 2000) for the entry of China into the World Trade Organization (WTO). Growing concern about the impact that the economic emergence of China will have on the region, however, has caused policy makers and managers in Asia to begin to take stock of the economic impact of China's emergence on their own economies. This case is designed for MBA-level course in international business. It explores the interaction between China and its neighbors to the present, and considers how these interactions will change as China enters the world economic stage in the 21st century. Also analyzes the impact of China's WTO accession on its neighbors. "Hide
