As Green As It Gets was a not-for-profit "economic development organization supporting small, independent companies in disadvantaged Guatemalan society." The founder was an American by the name of Franklin Voorhes. As Green As It Gets sponsor a collective of 18 farmers and by 2008 had inflamed its efforts into the jewelry and textiles businesses, in addition to reforestation plans.

Voorhes feel that the association had begun to obtain some traction. But despite the successes of the organization, Voorhes had some important questions linked to its future. For one, he wondered how exactly to balance supply and demand of java while growing As Green As It Gets. Eventually, he worried about financial sustainability, since all the money made went straight to the coffee farmers and artisans.
