This case highlights the latest and important type of new project sustainability of existing buildings, commonly referred to as an integrated energy retrofit (ERA) project. Anthony Malkin of Malkin Holdings, the owner of the Empire State Building (ESB), recognized the importance of the existing housing stock, especially in New York, more energy efficient, as it includes a large part of the estate in most cities.
