Outrage in Cyberspace: CompuServe and the GIF Patent Case Solution
CompuServe, an online services vendor, advises its software developers that they must be incorporated in an understanding regarding the usage of the well known GIF compression.
CompuServe claims that it is compelled to do so because Unisys is applying its patent rights in this area. Others contend that the move of CompuServe is a response to the growing competitive challenge presented by the Internet.
