Orange Cameroon, A Global Telecommunications Company in Africa Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

This case series was made to illustrate the specificities of rivalry in developing economies and poor and, more especially, competition at the Base of the Pyramid. It's composed of a nation note: two company cases, four files, and a business note. The business cases describe the competitive dynamics between two international telecom companies, MTN and Orange, in the Cameroonian telecom market. Each company case begins with a simple history of the company, followed by a description of the global strategy of the business and of its entry into Cameroon.

Eventually, the case describes the firm's Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, worldwide and in Cameroon. The case series also contains two background notes. The first note describes the development and the essential technical features of the cell phone business. The second note provide a prologue to the geography, history, and economy of Cameroon, with a special focus on the socioeconomic states of the people of the state. Taken collectively, this case series permits a discussion of competition at the Base of the Pyramid, including both company and ethical aspects.
