Huawei Enters the United States Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Huawei has tried to enter and obtain assets in America, however there are problems involved in understanding foreign market risk as well as the political challenges of internationalization. The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) twice refused Huawei's acquisition of a U.S. computer firm.

Huawei had to transform its business image and standing, altering from a Chinese firm with Chinese characteristics into an international corporation equivalent to Cisco Systems or Ericsson. This case encourages students to address the issues of internationalization in the government intervention in markets, an incompletely open global market and the broader issues that appear with the geopolitical and geo-economic shifts of 21st century.
