Describes three different product development efforts on residential segregation control Honeywell, Inc, each of the three projects was for a different market and competitive environment. Each solved in a slightly different way in the organization of Honeywell engineering, and the results of each were quite different. Also describes the new product development procedures, which have been used historically in the residential division, and some of the current thinking on future changes in the procedures. Provides the ability to compare the factors that influence the success of product development in three totally different projects, and see how the organization's approach to product development impact success in these different environments. It also provides the opportunity for students to study the functions of engineering and some of the key issues in the management of that functional group.
