Estimating Demand for a New Regional Transport Aircraft (A) Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

In India, air travel in the early twentieth century is mostly between major cities and has historically been driven by companies. Nonetheless, a set of comparatively unused airfields exist in or near smaller cities, presenting an expected opportunity for generating air travel demand in these types of places. This would demand a thorough understanding of present travel alternatives and the plan of the air travel offering that can productively compete with these choices.

The three-component case describes a methodology to reach an assessment of the degree of possible demand in this context and the right new air travel offering. In the very first part (A), competing travel modes are examined along with the aspects that are important to the design of a brand new air travel offering are identified. A choice-based conjoint experiment is designed and pilot data is obtained and assessed.
