Walt Disney is an international entertainment organization, which was founded in 1923 by Walter E and Roy O. Disney. The company started from a studio, known as Disney brother studios, and soon become the world’s renowned name in the media and entertainment industry. The company has been doing business in three different business segments. It has diversified portfolio with many subsidiaries majorly related to entertainment business. The three of these segments are explained below:

Creative Content

In this business segment the focus of the company is to produce animated motion picture and videos. It has produced many animated motion films for theaters and home video entertainment. It has used its own distribution channel for the sales of its films.

The name Walt Disney along with all digital contents was being licensed to different manufacturers, locally to retailers and to publishers around the globe. The company afterwards engaged in the business of providing computer software and audio contents for both entertainment and educational purposes. The company also opened its stores where it offers magazines and books to the general public.

The company involves Buena Vista Internet Group to help it in growing its internet business division. This internet facility has extended to development and publication/distribution of narrow-band online services as well as it provides interactive creativity in the form of websites and platforms, which provide television contents. The online store was also set up to provide the facility to buy Disney merchandise remotely.

Broadcasting

In order to reach every household, the company merged with ABC television network, which providing television services to the domestic household. The company aired different animated pictures and aired some programs through the radio stations, all of which were associated with the ABC Television Network. For overseas distribution and selling, the company introduced licensing program to enable the foreign cable operator and television channels to broadcast Disney’s digital content.   • The company also has a resort in Tokyo, knownas Tokyo Disneyland, a theme park wholly owned by a local Japanese corporation named Oriental Land Development. From this resort,Walt Disney only receives royalties and license fee.
  • Another resort in France known asEuro Disney is also partially owned by an independent French corporation with about 39% stake heldby the firm. However, this resort is less profitable as compared to the resort in Tokyo..........
