Introduction

The technology is scaling the world the world is shrinking as a result of the technology. The digital technology has become ubiquitous and it is disrupting the business models of the companies. The digital technology has also changed the system of the companies and the processes through which they manage their people and hire new people. However, according to the Business in the Community (BITC), all the businesses have their own responsibility to ensure that they are inclusive in their approach to achieve a digital revolution(Appleton, 2017).

Today the technology has the power and the potential for all of the groups to change the way in which they manage their people and the way in which they sell their services and products to the customers however, as the technology changes it changes the society rapidly and brings along with it a number of challenges. BITC has been calling all the organizations and their leaders to ensure that they are taking on the inclusive digital revolution approach and under this approach each one is revolutionized by the technology however, the most important thing is that each of these leaders also need to examine the impact of digital technology on all walks of their life and also the wider planet(Appleton, 2017).

They should take steps to overcome all the challenges and the risks that come along with adopting an inclusive digital revolution approach. The creation of an inclusive digital revolutions requires the creation of the collaborative businesses and collaboration is required with the policymakers and the non-governmental organizations so that the leaders can ensure that the transformation of the business generates environmental and social benefits(Appleton, 2017). In this report we discuss the challenges in achieving an inclusive digital revolution approach.

Infrastructure Gaps

The digital divide limits the benefits that could be harnessed by the communication and information technologies. Today the internet has become as one of the most widely used vital and fundamental infrastructure around the world. According to the latest report by World Economic Forum in 2014, the additional internet penetration by 10% can lead up to 1.2% increases in the per capita GDP growth of the emerging economies around the world(Bosc, 2017). However, today the digital divide which relates to the infrastructure gap in the access and the usage of the services and digital infrastructure between the businesses, households, individuals and the geographical areas remain still wide for majority or all of the emerging economies.

The infrastructure gap includes the challenges of lack of access to the applications, software, devices and the network connections. One of the recent study has founded that in the emerging economies and especially in the rural locations, around 4 billion total people still do not have any access to the internet(Cullen, 2014). Furthermore, there are also gaps in the high speed internet access which have a significant impact on the access of media such as the online streaming videos. The recent data analysis shows that 51% of the Hispanics use the high speed internet at their homes as compared to 66% Caucasian. Therefore, this infrastructure gap needs to be filled by providing the adequate services and infrastructure both in poorest areas of the developed countries and poorest countries.

Social Inequity

There is also lack of application, devices, and network services that are affordable therefore, in many developed countries and especially the poorest countries of the world, the issue is also not about availability but the issue is about affordability. The costs of acquiring the necessary services and devices related to the digital technology are very high. One of the recent study has shown that around 2 billion of the people do not own a cell phone and this is quite surprising as mobile phones are the most common method to get connected within the emerging economies(Bosc, 2017). Therefore, the digital divide can be achieved by bridging the gap of affordability within the poorest countries of the world.

In one of the latest reports by Darell West, he argues that it is highly important to make progress in the cases of China and India. Around 2 to 4 billion people in these countries don’t have any internet access as they cannot afford it. Governments need to implement zero rating programs and wave the data caps for all those people that lack the financial resources for the latest expensive data plans. These steps can help the governments to overcome the social inequity challenges that exist in such countries. All those policies that help to reduce the access charges and promote the telecommunication are important to be developed and implemented. If the internet access is made affordable then it would promote the literacy among the people and help such poor countries to realize the true benefits of internet connectivity(West, 2015).......................
