Cisco Systems Inc. Video Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Illustrates the problems associated with the centralization of IT solutions at Cisco after a decade of decentralized planning and financing. When Brad Boston, Cisco has a new CIO in 2001, he found that managers began to upset the results of its recent initiatives in the IT field. Boston believes that Cisco needs to focus its attention on the global infrastructure before investing in a more functional tools and applications. Under the direction of the Executive Committee of Boston and operating, Cisco selected three major business projects that require an unprecedented level of planning and cross-functional cooperation, a significant change from the traditional Cisco for enterprise disk. These three projects have started to fold in 2004, Boston, and the operating committee thought about what new projects, IT organizations must support. Raises questions about the change in management, centralized planning, priority setting and resource allocation, cooperation between enterprises, and financing.
