Caroline Regis at Excel Systems Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

The case describes the effects of a planned change in Excel's manufacturing strategy as seen through the eyes of the business VP of Manufacturing, Caroline Regis. Following a merger with Gemini, the new CEO promoters a new production strategy: outsourcing of Excel. The case follows Regis’s response to the proposal.

Regis seems prepared to accede to the organizational politics and support the brand new strategy, only to alter her mind and wrath her superiors, who thought she'd support the plan. Regis tries to usurp control of the situation and threatens to resign if she is not allowed to decide on the right technique. The case discusses the analyzing and discussion of job and personal development problems continuously confronted by high potential employees by showing that particular livelihood and behavior strategies which are successful at one point can become dysfunctional as professionals progress through an organization.
