Ever since General Motors (GM) announced in February 1997 its intention to divest Delphi Automotive Systems--its upstream parts manufacturing businesses--Wall Street had called for additional unbundling and different stakeholders competed for their claim of value represented by GM.
The case presents the four choices for the Delphi unit of GM and increases government and valuation problems affecting the remaining corporate assets. It is a rewritten version of an earlier case.
