Countrywide plc Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

One of the planet 's top investors in distressed businesses, Oaktree Capital Management, is considering a "loan to own" investment in the debt of Countrywide plc, a fiscally troubled residential real estate representative located in the U.K. Just sixteen months earlier, Countrywide was obtained by private equity investor Apollo Management L.P. in a leveraged buyout. Although Countrywide is the greatest real estate representative in the U.K., and has a powerful portfolio of assets, its economic fortunes have decreased abruptly with the extensive collapse of international financial and real estate markets, placing it in danger of defaulting on its debt and having to restructure under a U.K. Scheme of Arrangement.
