March 22, 2001, Microsoft has warned computer users that a person creates electronically representative tricked VeriSign, Inc, a leading digital certification, releasing two fraudulent digital certificates on behalf of Microsoft. It can be used by hackers to trick computer users into running unsafe programs. Despite the discovery of fraud and the subsequent investigation by the FBI, the person who registered the certificate can not be found. Microsoft deal was the first case in the world of digital certificates fraud. This raises serious questions about the complexity of digital certificates and signatures, and the rules governing the behavior of issuers and users in the electronic market.
