UPS has become a global public company with a market capitalization of $ 74 billion, more than 428,000 employees, $ 47 billion in revenue and operations in more than 200 countries. A recognized leader in package delivery company, its growth has been higher than the industry average, and historically have been through geographical expansion. In 1998, UPS changed its business model for simultaneous trade and adopted a new strategy of growth is called four-quadrant model, hoping to expand its market space, transforming itself in the logistics solutions company. But eight years after these changes, UPS produced only 17% of its revenue from its supply nonpackage, and only $ 2 million in operating profit on the basis of new businesses. In 2006 the company's annual report, UPS chairman and CEO acknowledged the disappointing results, and realized that these results need to answer to the open market.
