Commission was brought together by the belief that the world's problems - poverty, the environment, misunderstandings between peoples, the vast differences in living standards between countries - better met in the face of growing prosperity and economic opportunity. He explains why the Commission pays particular attention to the growth - not because it is the ultimate goal, but because it allows so many things that people care about: poverty reduction, productive employment, education, health and the ability to be creative.
