Rubicon Programs Corporate Strategy (Video) DVD Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

In response to the closure of the California mental hospitals, Rubicon Programs was established in 1973 to provide social services for the newly de-institutionalization of people with mental illnesses. Located in Richmond, California, in an area with high demand and high unemployment, the Rubicon quickly expanded to offer a wide range of programs and services addressing poverty and homelessness for people with barriers to employment. By 2003, Rubicon Programs grew in large non-profit organization with an international reputation for its success as a social enterprise. In addition to its two main programs Integrated Services and Housing Rubicon, Rubicon operated three income business units, which are used by the client is a social program: Rubicon Landscaping, Rubicon Bakery, and a consortium of Rubicon HomeCare. While top management team agreed that the Rubicon in the individual units have been successful, they wondered whether the social and economic value created by the whole was greater than the sum of its parts. Videocase Rubicon explores reflection and debate about their corporate strategy. In addition, it seeks to address how to deal with a struggling division of home healthcare.
