Indias Intellectual Property Rights Regime and the Pharmaceutical Industry Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

In 1970, the Indian government has significantly revised its patent law, patents and Design Act 1911. 1911 Act was passed, when India was a British colony, and it was controversial, as it led to the complete domination of the pharmaceutical market in India, multinational corporations. In 1970, an act to significantly reduce both the magnitude and the extent of patent protection, and some credited with the creation of its own act of indigenous Indian pharmaceutical industry. In 1994, the Indian government is committed to its respective intellectual property rights regime to WTO requirements. Internal political opposition has been cruel to any attempts to move away from the 1970 act.
