Helen Gates Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Ted Evans is the line manager at the plant of building materials in Richmond, Virginia. Over the years, Evans had experience with morale, training and development, materials handling and quality control. Elena Gates, a 27-year veteran of the company, came to see Evans with charges of both sexes and racial discrimination. She believes that she was denied due to the action of the institutional system of discrimination. Gates is the only woman of color on the line four shifts C. She approached management on several previous occasions for various problems easily resolved issues. This case challenges students to look at issues from both sides of the fence.
