Network Fox Television, launched in 1987 by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. was in a precarious position in 1993. Although she met her business plan objectives, its ratings in the recently concluded November "sweeps" were indifferent, some of its recently launched show failed, and the entry of the other two networks was inevitable. In December 1993, Fox has made an outrageous bid for TV rights to the National Football League (NFL) games and, in the process, broke the dominance of the major networks to broadcast these games.
