The case is about the financial markets scam with Harshad Mehta as the main architect and the banking system. Mehta managed to successfully use the deficiencies in the microstructure of the Indian financial system to siphon cash from the banking system to the financial markets.
With this money he inaccurately ststed the Indian capital markets causing a fantastic increase in stock prices. The capital markets crashed, when the scam was exposed and thousands of investors lost their life savings; it also impacted several national and foreign banks operating in India.
