New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, physical activity and nutrition program is essential to come up with innovative solutions to many health problems such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease, which prevented the poor barrios in the city, while increasing economic opportunities for residents neighborhood. The result is that green truck, new mobile food trade initiatives in support of the introduction of healthy food options for residents of "food deserts" in the cities of New York. The task was to navigate the diverse landscape of players and the involvement of all relevant stakeholders to come up with a solution that was affordable and sustainable. This case illustrates how the partnership and strategic alliances can be used to have a significant social impact. The beauty of this example is that it simultaneously addresses two major social issues: 1) access to healthy food in urban food deserts and 2) the creation of self-employment for disadvantaged communities.
