Abbott and the AIDS Crisis (C): What Lies Ahead Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

The partnership between Abbott and the Government of Tanzania has continued to flourish. As a demonstration of long-term liabilities of Abbott in Tanzania, in 2007 Abbott Fund opened its first office outside of Abbott, headquartered in Illinois. The new office in Dar es Salaam, led by Vice President Christy Wistar, oversaw the expansion of the number of charity projects in Tanzania. In June 2007, the Director General Abbott Miles White returned to Tanzania for the third time and Abbott Fund announced future plans to upgrade 23 regional laboratories throughout Tanzania. By the end of 2007, the Fund Abbott has invested more than $ 50 million in Tanzania alone, strengthen and modernize the healthcare infrastructure and systems across the country. Abbott Fund plans to continue its support for the many programs and organizations that work to prevent mother-to-child HIV / AIDS and the provision of effective care and treatment for HIV-infected patients. Abbott Fund also supports programs that are designed to meet the basic needs of orphans and vulnerable children in Tanzania and elsewhere in Africa and India.
